We decided to hit this spot were a huge hog was spotted many times by the local farmers and construction workers.
A few of them said they took guns out there to pop a shot at it but never had any luck when they took there rifles out there.
We had been there about a month ago and had no luck ..the water was still fairly high then.
We got there around 5:00 pm and began scouting . All the signs were there of a big hog in the area.
We saw plenty of smaller tracks but we were there for the big one.
The dogs trailed some and began to wind but the water and mud was still bad and it was rough on the dogs.
After walking through all the Malaluca and Brazilian pepper trees. After about 4 hours of walking one dog took off and had something bayed .
By the way he was barking my buddy knew it wasnt a hog.
Needless to say all the dogs got there and were caught on huge wild goat..lol
As soon as they saw us get there they began to let go for they knew they did wrong.
My lil cur is a lilttle more hard headed and got a boot.
I said what are we going to do with it?
My buddy was like sh***t .. we takin' it home . Thats meat right there..lol.
So we tied him to a tree and decided to keep going.
We got to the truck and we were just about done from the heat, the lil tree sting ants(hate those things that bad part is you can barely seem), and the thirst.
We get to the truck drink some water and my buddy looks at me and says all the signs are to good that sucker's got to be here somewhere.
C'mon lets go to this lil plam tree field and check there.
I said alright then lets go.
The hogs down here love the seeds that the royal palms let go of.
20 minutes into our walk , Digger begins to wind and some of the other dogs were getting excited as well.
They had been doing this all day though.
Finally Contento and Digger take off in the same direction.
We heard a bark and then A solid bay.
All the other dogs ran towards the bay.
We're right behind them when we come to an open.
Suddenly the hog broke and all we heard was a loud grunts coming straight for us.
My boy yells get out the way its comin!
I jumped to the side towards a barb wire fence and my brother Danny trips and just about got ran over by the hog.
About 50 yards down Snowy(My boy's running catchdog) closed the deal.
Grabbed hold of the right ear and then Digger grabbed on to the left.
Then the rest of the dogs got there.
It was a "HUGE" sow!
The perfect end to long a** night...lol
When we got her to the ranch we weighed her she was 322lbs.
The goat was pretty big too.lol
