That's a nice one Ike! Is this one of the old man's pups? I haven't seen HIM lately. He's probably moved on to the Happy Hunting Grounds! I've layed a couple of my old ones to rest the last couple of years! It's heart wrenching but they live on in the memories they've made!
Good hunting and keep em coming!

Here is a shot of the old man under the tree this past month. He is eleven years old now and I try not to send him down into any bad holes or on those day long runs. However, if the bear is a pop up or good country I still turn him down the track and know our time together is limited........ ike

Thanks Houndmomma. So where are you located in northern California? If things don't change, a buddy and I are suppose to take dogs out to California this fall to hunt with some buddies of his near Santa Cruz I believe--that is if that country doesn't burn up.....

We are in Redding, way up North! About 178 miles North of Sacramento right off I-5. If you head this way, you better let us know!! Would love to meet up with you somewhere! What are you gonna hunt in Santa Cruz? Not many bear there, so Ken says.

A guy owns a ranch somewhere out there and they claim they have some big bears on their place and never had dogs on them, but I don't know where he lives. I'll have to find out, cause if there aren't many bears there I ain't coming..........
I wrote for an editor for Rocky Mountain Game and Fish for years who came from or was raised in Redding. He was living in Georgia I believe at the time. My wife had a brother in Sacromento, another in Modesto and a third in Santa Clarita.............but I haven't been in northern California in nearly twenty years.
