Well, Friday afternoon we loaded both kids (Sarah and Robbie) and headed for the woods. Spent the night in a really neat tent with a stove built in. Ken and I had cots, Robbie slept with me and Sarah and George had bed rolls with a thick cut of foam.
Saturday morning was cool. Loaded the kids, headed up to their favorite spot. Split into two groups with Ken in the lead on our group. Annie didn't open before Gene called with a good strike. We got turned around and as soon as we got there, he hollered cut em loose! All the dogs hit a good track and then started the task of finding the tree. Didn't take long to find the dogs. They were treed about 200 yards off a road. Everyone took off and Robbie and I stayed in the truck. I had a harness on him (LOL Sissy's puppy harness) cuz I didn't want him getting close to the dogs or getting lost in the woods. They came back with about a 350 lb bear. A fatty!!! Went to breakfast at the local cafe and then went back tot he camp for a walk with Robbie and then a nap. Sarah and a couple of the other kids were playing and she got hit in the eye with a stick. Gonna have a shiner!! HIt sohard it busted a blood vessle in her eye. Hung around camp and then to bed early. Robbie's ears seemed to be bothering him in the altitude. (Dr visit this week to check on an ear infection that should have been cleared up and to make sure Sarah's eye is ok.)

Up early Sunday more chasing Mr Bear. Robbie was a trouper. He was immitating the dogs and saying bear by the time we found one. Annie and Lightening opened a couple of times, but they didn't want to run a bear in the canyon where we were. Gene and his crew had opened on something on the other side and they thought it would be an easier run. Set the dogs out at about 9. They mulled around for quite a while. I knew we were in trouble! They finally all set off. We tracked till after 12 and finally found them miles and miles and miles and miles and then some from where we let them out. Drove around and around trying to find a way in to the wilderness area where Mr Bear decided to tree. Ken had to be back home by 3 for work. Ken found a way in for them with a path (atv or something) that went most of the way in. The rest of the group headed in. I got my hunting wound here. Needed a potty break so I went to find a log (don't laugh yet, it gets better!!) Dropped trou and was ready to lean back to pee and the the branch off the log snapped and down in went!! Lucky for me I hadn't peed yet!!! I hollered and Sarah was cracking up!! Got a nice rasberry and a pretty deep scratch. Nothign soem neosporin won't handle. We went back to camp to clean up and pack up. Just as we were leaving camp, we got a call on the radio that they had all our dogs and would be heading out soon. George stayed behind to bring the dogs home in his truck (he doesn't have a dog box, but a camper shell with tie down hooks inside. George called me at 7 to say that he had all of our dogs and the group inside had split up, one with dogs the other with the bear. The group with the bear was lost in the wilderness area and he was gonna stay till they all got out. It is 1:30 am and they are still not back. No call from him and I am getting pretty worried.
