Ken said they had a really bad weekend. The dogs didn't tree anything on Saturday. On Sunday they treed a fischer. He got pics of it but I have to find his camera!! He said it was just tooo hot and dry. They didn't even see any tracks. Said it was over 100 up there which is rare. Supposed to be lots cooler this coming weekend.

Well, they have alot of season left and things will only get better for them. Tell them I said good luck!
I went out and spent the last weekend of bear looking for a brute to run down for a hunter. We rigged one bear Saturday and could not get a good size measurement on the track so didn't put the dogs down. Sunday we rigged a bear around 9:00 AM right where two muzzleloader deer hunters were parked, so I got out and looked for the tracks.
I found the rear pad first which indicated a large boar, then a front pad that measured over five inches wide, a trophy size bear in my book so I put down Ike and Choco. They had alot of trouble starting the track in the shade on the north side of the canyon which isn't good, but I figured we'd not find another boar that day and so what the heck and put down the other four dogs.
The hounds picked and scratched for over four hours until just after 1:00 PM, then started giving less and less voice until they all six piled up under a shade tree. I gave them ten or fifteen minutes then called them out of that 1000' canyon--oh well?
