Saturday was pretty uneventful. We only came across one track after about 2 hours of rigging and it was really cold so Ken only put Annie out on it. Gene put all his and Billy put two of his. They ran for a while and then came back to where we let em out, after ALL day!! Annie was the first back in. We made it back to camp in time to cook a great dinner of hamburgers, buffalo steaks and burgers, beans and taters. The guys all stayed around the camp fire for a while and I kept the babies inside where it was warm. They played with their toys and watched movies. Joleen and Papa taking a nap before Dinner Sarah and Robbie watching Movies Sunday was a bit more eventful. We put out on a pretty good track and ended up with a split race. We tracked em for a while and finally figured out how to get to em. We parked and they went in. Walked for an hour or more and Ken was the first to the tree. He had been beating up dogs pretty good. Took us a while to track em and took the rest of the group a while to get there. Our dogs at the tree were Radar, Sissy, Tank, and Beauty. Annie and Lightening had gone to the other tree. It was late by the time Ken got to the truck with the dogs and we had to leave. The others hadn't made the hike out yet. We loaded up and left with three of our dogs out (Brett was walking Beauty out and hadn't made it yet) I took Ken to work and dropped him off. We could hear them on the radio, they had located the second tree and were walking in. No calls, no messages. The next morning I got a call from Brett, he had beauty and lightening and was going back to look for Annie. They had found all the dogs but her. Said they had gotten home at around 2:30 am and he was gonna sleep for a couple more hours and then head up there to find her. A while later I got a call from the store, Annie had made her way to where Sissy had gone the weekend before and the guy tied her up. She had been bitten in the back but not too seriously. Brett went up and got her and brought all three dogs home that afternoon. Annie got bit just below the back strap and behind her ribs, almost in the belly area. A couple inches lower and it would have been really bad. While we were gone, a dog I rescued from the pound cut her legs on the fence!! So now I have 4 dogs on antibiotics!!! Where we parked to hike in on Sunday That makes the counts 24 bears treed and 6 taken for the season so far. Still have a couple more weekends to go.
