Fieldwalker, The past couple years grouse numbers have been so low it's a shame to shoot one. Have a friend in Georgia that bear hunts with us some...and he usually brings his German Shorthair. Fun to watch that dog work. My friend got this dog directly from Germany. Interesting story he told about German standards for registering one of those dogs.

I still have a Brittany. But I have to drive 2-3 hrs then walk 2 miles to find a grouse, so I stick with quail and pheasant, and occasionally a snipe or woodcock.

As I am sure it is for you guys... It is all about the dog work for me...
Laroe is around... Still posting heavily on M-S. I know he's shot at least one doe so far... I'll give him a shout, get him back on here.

Heck yes some of us here bird hunt. We just hunt the REAL birds the ones that you can really have fun hunting. LMAO
Hey why take and walk 10 miles with 5 shells and wonder if you took to many shells. When you can walk 1 mile with 50 shells and wonder if you brought enough shells.
Yeah upland may be fun, but well there is a view to life it goes a little like this.
If everything once was a primordial ooze then life began in a puddle. Then it evolved and found itself on the land, soon life changed again and species went to the air. The best of the evolution though was when you mix the last and the first evolution aspect together and you then get waterfowl.
So when we as spotsman start we usually begin with fishing ( in the water ) We then move onto hunting, ( Deer and small game) We then expand yet again and move into things that fly ( Upland ) The final height of your life as a sportsman though is when you pursue Waterfowl and you combine the water and the sky. The two main aspects of life itself. Air and water.
Wow is that deep LMFAO.
