I started a bear today around 8:15 this morning with the Wolf Pack. They've been hunted pretty hard and were getting a little beaten down if you know what I mean. I sent Ryan and Rowen (both coming nine years old), Ike (seven), Choco (five), and my two, two year olds down the track. The track was slow to start but they did eventually get it moving pretty well, off the mountain and around several side canyons then across a deep canyon where they crossed the river. I thought about then enough was enough. The bear track then lead up out of that drainage and across the mountain. After six hours the dogs started falling out, guess they must have run out of gas? But what impressed me was that my nine year old Ryan dog took the track the furthest--and just when you think your best bear dog is getting too old too! But that old bluedog always did like the bears, and in fact seemed to have another gear when after one. I hope everyone has had their hounds in the woods. Keep'em treed! ike

Bluedogman,
I'm glad to hear you're getting those blue dogs out in the woods and treein a few coon. I had to work the other night and travelled after dark. While in route, I had two or three coons cross the highway out in my headlights....looks like they are surely moving around.
The bear ended here and I stayed home and caught up on some hopney-do stuff last weekend--and rested. But lion pursuit season is still open and I'll probably go out at least one day this weekend and exercise the hounds......maybe get lucky.
Keep'em treed! Ike
