I was looking through some old photos just now and found this shot of my four hounds before Lionheart went on to that big tree in the sky. Two buddies had had their dogs all all day and night and were still on the mountain taht day and asked to come to the tree with me. I said sure thing, and we found Ike (redbone); Rowen (black and white english); Ryan (Blue English); and lionheart (old lion hound cross) with a nice red sow in the tree. We video taped and snapped the dogs up to walk out, and this shot was taken just before leaving the tree. That was four or five years ago, and I still miss that red LionHeart dog. Ike

Thanks Bluedogman! Long time no see, so how is life treating you? I was busy on bear season and then it ended, so here I am waiting for the fall hunt to start. Choco did get whipped up on by a mean bear the last day of the pursuit season, had a canine knock clean out and bitten through the hind leg. It does look likes he is healing though, and I hope he'll be back in the lineup for the fall bear hunt. Keep'em treed! ike

Sorry about Choco, but I suppose it's part of the game as bad as it may be. Good luck in the Fall!

Yeah whitedog, congrats on the upcoming baby.......keep us updated on the little one and hope all is well.
Choco seemed to heal up just fine and all he needs is another bear to chew on. They closed the bear pursuit this fall except to people who have a tag and others helping them. I'm still pretty bitter towards the deer and elk hunters who lobbied the DWR to close down our pursuit, as we lost five weeks of the best bear chasing we had. Maybe someday I'll get the chance to return the favor?
The year round lion season units are still open and I'm looking at four days off this weekend. I suppose I'll have the hounds out on a couple days looking for lion and keeping them in shape for a bear hunter I have coming.
Stay in touch, ike
