They say you can run but you can't hide! The opportunity is always there to bend the rules. We had two guys kill a six point bull elk near a haystack after dark during an open bull elk hunt. The only problem was one of the local game wardens just happened to be watching through night vision equipment and busted them. He let them load the elk and drive home before dropping the boom on them though.....
Trophy elk poaching in this state will cost you your gun and any equipment used during the crime, an $8000. fine and another price to replace the elk, plus loosing your hunting opportunity for 14 years (7 years if it aint a trophy). Oh yeah, you very well might get a third degree felony slapped on you as well, which could be up to five years in the state pen, lose of voting and gun owner privileges as well.
Now, my question to everybody is how in the heck could a darn old stinking bull elk be worth all that?
Keep'em treed but keep it legal, ike
