Last monday was when we where supposed to get the word on if we were succesful.I got up in the morning and checked and it said we where, later in the day the dnr site said there has been some error in the system wich isnt very unlikely and that all the results where not accurate so we are not sure if we are picked and it could take a month from now until we know

It sounds like your bear draw is about as tough sorting out as the votes on our last Presidential election ha!

ive never had any trouble with the system over the years, but befor the system there was at most 1500 bear hunters in the hole state, now we have over 60,000 people applying for kill tags, most drawin never put any time or money into hunting a bear and people like me who feed a large pack of hounds year round and spend tons of money to keep the hounds and scouting every year cant harvest a bear when we want to any more, but some flunky from the city applys gets a tag and comes one weekend and never sees a bear then the hound hunters are a$$ holes for them not seeing a bear, then they ask you to bait one or tree one for them and cry cause you want some money to cover cost of gas and dog food, for that reason I hate the system, it was great befor the system, but when you add that one word everyone wants part of it, that word is (lottery) and the only realy winner is the state budget getting the 4 bucks from every one who applys, I would like to see the lottery droped and just charge like 3 to 5 hundered for a tag, that would weed out the wannabe's or keep the system like it is and charge 100 to apply, that would make the odds better, I feel if you can afford to apply, you should be able to pay a good guide or come up a few times a week to do your own baiting, ther is just some amny people that apply just to see if they get a tag and never come north to hunt, not to mention all the anti's that pay the 4 bucks and never buy the kill tag when they get drawed, when you look at the number of bears we have in the state and the number of kill tags and the number of bears killed it dont add up, 15,000 some kill tags and only 12 to 1500 bears harvested isnt right, some is due to anti's applying and some to people who apply for a kick, lets put them in the anti bracket just cause they piss me off, I buy over 3 tons of dog food a year and have only drawed 3 kill tags sence the system was put in place in 1990 back befor i was married i had twise the number of dogs so i realy cant even to begin to think what I spend year round just to listen to my dogs and take a few pictures of a bear.
where did you apply for? let me know ive hunted all units in the upper, if I can be of asstance let me know...

newberry is my home unit, if you get the tags and dont have any one place you want to hunt, I would be glad to help you out, I live around 40 miles north of the bridge, I have a few areas close to home that hold good bear numbers, and I could take a day and go scout some ground closer to the bridge if you like, let me know, I am working out of town now so I can only read the board on the weekends, theres still plenty of time, just let me know...
