i am on call this week so cant till next weekend but i plan on hitting a pen at least 2 or 3 times before i head to iowa in a month.figured i would hit wilsons a time or 2 and maybe babcocks during the week.just let me no.i had another question for you,i have to apply for my bear permit and have 4 points i believe so should have a pretty good chance at it.if i get one will you help me set up a spot near the cabin, have never done it and not real sure what to look for the first time.would like to take one with my bow.the other question is what season do i want to apply for.just curious.Darrell

well buddy I have some bad news for you, we are haveing a nutter baby and its due september 13th to the 15th could be sooner or later, as far as baiting by your cabin for a bow stand the bears there are night time feeders that area gets hounded kinda hard, but we can go look around any time, we can set one up there and put a timer on it and see i know all the roads around there get dogged hard, you could be in a hold up area and it could be good to one never knows, if I was you I would apply for the first hunt, that gives you 5 days with out hounds in the woods, I am applying for a ponit due to the baby comeing openning day time, if your not lucky the first week or so you have first seat in my truck once i get the dogs out, most bear trees offer a good bow shot, but apply for the first hunt and we will go from there if you get a tag.
any how i am going to call jack today and try and get in saturday, I am thinking I would like to run saturdays once i get going every weekend, once I get them pups started i am going to talk to jack if any of them look good nuff and leave them there and have him run them one days a week or 2, ok apply for the first hunt, if you get a tag we will have lots of time to talk, by the way there is a new bear hunting rule change and you can use a barrel on privet land, so that will help keep bait there all the time, I have a good plan for them kinds of baits, that way you cont have to be there every day, so keep you eye out for some metal 55 gallon drums with a strap on lid, the kind that have a bolt on lid are the best.
