Well it was finally the type of day most of us here in South Fl. look foward to all year round.
Nice and cool and what else can be better than hunting in daylight hours.
All year long all we did was hunt nights when it was cooler on the dogs.
We met up with my brother Danny's buddy Larry, he invited us to come hunt his property.
Over a 1000 acres of palmetto's , Pine trees and oaks.
We went out on his swamp buggy, it was nice to get to see the dogs work from a distance for a change.
Well, we rode out around 8am or so we were supposed to be there by 6am but we were caught up In the Miami bulls*** traffic for quite sometime but we finally got out there.
We were pressed for time and were told that we might only be able to hunt for 2 hours or so before he had to get going.
He had to make some preparations for the holidays which we understood.
I said well hell, then I guess we better get a move on then.
We took Bo , Digger , Baby and Thunder. Mala was held in the box until needed.
Plenty of old tracks and the dogs were excited from the moment they hit the ground.
We casted Thunder (Danny's plott) and Bo ( the catahoula Danny got from Chad) first.
Their were some decent tracks we thought they might work and did.
We decided to head around in the other direction were the wind was in the dogs favor.
Thye dogs began to work a decnt track and were extremely excited.
Thunder was just all over the place...lol.
I still dont know what that dog is up to but whatever it ishe sure as hell wont stop until he finds it thats for sure.
Digger and Bo began to beat the palmetto bushes and we were expecting some action really soon.
They would come back , no luck.
Finally it got around that time and we bagan to head back.
As we rode Thunder was way out yonder to the left of us, Digger and Baby were still beating some palmetto bushes and Bo was was within distance to the right of us.
Suddenly I see her working a track really good aound these palmetto's.
I told Larry to shut off the buggy.
She disappeared into the palmetto's when within the minute she let out two barks.
I said "hold on" and finally she was bayed up and hard.
I let go of Mala and we can here the fight .
Finally we get to the dogs and it was caught.
Digger, Thunder, Mala and Bo were all caught solid.
Took us awhile to get to them and a longer time to get the hog out.
After a few nicks and scratches we finally made our way out of the palmetto's we loaded the hog up and called it a day.
It was short but it was great.
It was good to see Bo get on something. Again, cant thank Chad enough for her, she did everything he said she'd do.
Didnt weigh the hog but I'd say he was about a buck 10 or so.
Nice 2 inch cutter on one side and an inch and a half on the other.
