i can usely find a track when i want trapping keeps there numbers kinda low, all the trappers here take atleast 10 cats over there limit, the dnr have there hands tied the state isnt paying any overtime to investegate them so the cats just keep fighting and stay stable at best. but i can find atleast one aday if i have help ie more trucks looking for tracks can find bout one per truck, where you from wolf have a great day.

the guys in the south and places like texas use running dogs on bobcat, i pose there like any hound if they get a pat on the head for doing something they will prolly keep doing it, the running dogs i had would pack with my bear hounds but very seldom stayed at the tree, i would find them some where running a yote after they left the bear tree, i never started any young running dogs on a bear tho i pose they would take to it if started as pups, i only run bobcat in the winter and find they circle kinda tight you can hear most of the race from one stump if you dont spoke the cat out of the circle, get yu a roll cage and put a feral cat in it and see what your dogs do, if they like it be carefull in area's that have house's you could end up bayedup under some ones pourch on a house cat/feralcat lol

I live in the country about 20 minutes east of Dean and 20 minutes west of Mead. I hunted with some of the early Hammer dogs, you could always tell a woods he had hunted in as the bark would be chewed off all the den trees!! The mead dogs are also extremely hard tree dogs and are doing well in the hunts. I am not a contractor but have several relatives that are, will check things out for you. Raining here today, may have to go north a bit to run a yote, only a few weeks left to do that, may have to start hunting out of an escort if gas keeps going up, Have a good one.

I use running dogs on bobcats in TX. Some of them tree ok but they have been crossed with treeing walker some over the years down here. It's pretty common for the cat hunters down here to be looking for a tree dog. I have a couple of dogs that came from coyote dogs that are doing real good on cats. Derek

Whitedog...in reading your post on trappers taking way over their legal limit on cats...sounds like you have had discussions with the DNR on this problem, and they responded by telling you "they're hands are tied." Is the DNR actually saying...they do not have the ability to enforce a game law?
